My Top Plays for the Limitless Online Series

Zach goes over this top three plays for the upcoming PTCGO Limitless Series?

03/31/2020 by Zach Lesage

What up everyone, Zach here, and I wanted to write up something quick about the Limitless Online Series. This is a new type of event ran by Limitless  and you can read all about the event offerings by following this link here. While I have said a few times that I will only be covering new and refreshing content during the pandemic, I will share what my top three plays are for these events going forward. Anyways, I’m gonna jump into them right now.

Play #1

My first pick is  a baby Blacephalon (UBO; 32)  deck. It has a solid Zacian V (S&S; 138) Arceus & Dialga & Palkia Tag Team GX (CoE; 156)  matchup, it is aggressive, and Malamar (FLI; 51)  shouldn’t be played in 25 mins best of one. There isn’t anything special in this list besides a Tapu Fini (UB; 53)  for mirror, but it should be able to handle the metagame well.

Play #2

While 25 mins best of one might scare some players off from control, I know that some of the best players in the game are going to playing a similar list to this during the Limitless Series. I have gone back and forth on tech options ( Mimikyu (CoE; 96) to abuse Supporters, Magneton (CoE; 69)  to get behind on Prizes, and Electrode GX (CLS; 48)  to really get behind on Prizes), but I am currently sticking with Girafarig (LT; 94) . After talking to Draydon Davis, he recommended that a Girafarig (LT; 94)  / Faba (LT; 173)  combo should be enough to handle mirror matches to run them out of Energy. Beyond that, the Energy Denial package in this deck should help beat ZADP decks.

Pokémon - 17

4 Cinccino PR-SW 09

4 Minccino SSH 145

3 Zacian V SSH 138

2 Oranguru UPR 114

1 Mewtwo & Mew-GX PR-SM 191

1 Ditto Prism Star LOT 154

1 Magcargo-GX LOT 44

1 Girafarig LOT 94

Trainer Cards - 40

4 Bellelba & Brycen-Man

4 Team Yell Grunt

2 Lt. Surge's Strategy

2 Cynthia & Caitlin

1 Faba

4 Crushing Hammer

4 Lillie's Poké Doll

4 Quick Ball

4 Great Ball

3 Pal Pad

2 Pokémon Communication

2 Ordinary Rod

2 Air Balloon

2 Tag Call

Energy - 3

2 Fire Energy

1 Recycle Energy

Play #3

I gave up on this deck after ZADP decks grew to a new monstrous level, but the matchup isn’t unfavorable for Fire Toolbox. It also holds an extremely strong matchup against Control decks and adding back Lucky Egg helps against Mewtwo & Mew GX (UB; 71)  / Malamar (FLI; 51) . With those two matchups in mind, it seems like a solid play for this event!

Pokemon - 17

4 Jirachi TEU

3 Dedenne-GX UNB

2 Ninetales TEU

2 Vulpix SWH

1 Reshiram & Charizard-GX UNB

1 Victini Prism Star DRM

1 Heatran-GX UMI

1 Turtonator DRM

1 Volcanion UNB

1 Victini V SWH

Trainers - 25

2 Giant Hearth

1 Heat Factory Prism Star

4 Welder

4 Quick Ball

4 Switch

3 Pokémon Communication

2 Escape Board

2 Lucky Egg

2 Fiery Flint

1 Pal Pad

Energy - 18

18 Fire Energy

Limitless Series Bound

While the season was just “cancelled” on us, which you can read about here, we can look forward to those who step up. Limitless has offered us a “high-profile” event to play in and it is refreshing to have something positive to look forward to as a change. There are content creators, article writers, and more that are looking forward to the future with interesting content. Things will be better and I can only look forward to my next physical event. Until then, I am going to be writing articles, filming videos, and getting ready for some upcoming online events. I already have a few articles in the creation process and I will be using this pandemic as a way to help our community grow as players. I appreciate all of the support I have received from messages so far and I will use it as motivation going forward!
