12th-20th of April News Summary

In this weekly article series I will summarise the Pokemon TCG news of the past 7 days, so that you don't miss anything.

This week there was a lot of stuff to cover:

The week started with great news for local stores in the USA and Canada, which will be allowed to sell the new set Sun and Moon Guardians Rising before official release.
On Pokemon.com it says:

"Starting with the Pokémon TCG: Sun & Moon—Guardians Rising expansion, stores in the United States and Canada that host Play! Pokémon Prerelease tournaments will be allowed to sell products on the Monday before the official release date. The launch date for the Sun & Moon—Guardians Rising expansion is Friday, May 5, so these stores can begin selling booster packs, theme decks, and other Sun & Moon—Guardians Rising products on Monday, May 1"

I beleive this is a great move to get more people into the stores that have a league to introduce collectors, who want to get the cards as soon as possible, to the played game as well. We do not know if something like this will make it's way outside of North America yet.

There has also been a few more card announcements/leaks from the coming japanese sets SM2+ (which is a mini set that will come between SM2 and SM3 in Japan, but outside of Japan these cards will be most likely released in our SM3 set or as promo cards)

On "Ponyta News Friday" the official japanese Pokemon TCG YouTube Channel showed us Machamp GX

Machamp GX 250HP

FF: 60+

If your opponent's active Pokemon is an evolution card this attack deals 60 more damage.

FFF: 130

Discard a Stadium card in play.

FFF: GX Attack 180

This attack's damage isn't effected by resistance

Weakness: P
Resistance: -
Retreat Cost: 3

Machamp will be in SM2+, so probably in our SM3

And on Twitter they showed us this new Item card:

"Wish Baton"

If the Pokemon this card is attached to is your active Pokemon and is knocked out by damage from an opponent's attack, choose up to 3 basic energy cards attached to your active Pokemon and move them to one of your benched Pokemon.

It will be in SM2+

We also got a bunch of leaks for the Japanese "Best of XY" set, which will be reprinting a lot of cards, some of them even with a brand new full art artwork.

The twitter user @AutobotTesla posted a bunch of them:

All cards just have the same effect as before. We do not have any idea how these cards will be released here, because it's the first time there is a reprint set, after the next cycle has already begun. So it might be either in our new set (which would mean these cards will stay in our format) or we get them as promos with XY numbers, so they rotate with other XY suff, but get re-introduced in our format (like Blacksmith), or they wait until all of the XY cards rotated and release these cards in a different way. We can only speculate.

There are also new product images for the so called "Legacy Evolution Pin Collection" on Pokemon.com

This box is pretty uninteresting, all the cards are from older sets, it seems like they took the most popular Generation 2 Pokemon and put them into this box, to have additional Merchendise of the new Pokemon introduced in Pokemon GO.

That's it for this week, thanks for reading.
